  • Joint Secretary (Americas), Ministry of External Affairs: Transformed bilateral relations in security, strategic cooperation, human rights, science and technology, and economic partnerships. 

  • Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence: Coordinated India's international defence cooperation and headed the Defence Planning and Coordination Division. 

  • Ambassadorial Roles:

    • Deputy High Commissioner to the UK: Facilitated the establishment of 'Friends of India' groups in major UK political parties. 

    • Ambassador to Brazil: Oversaw the transformation of bilateral relations, including the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) initiative and BRICS-related dialogues. 

  • Permanent Representative to the United Nations:

    • Geneva (2002–2005): Facilitated the adoption of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and contributed to the establishment of the Human Rights Council. 

    • New York (2009–2013): Served as President of the United Nations Security Council in August 2011 and chaired the Counter-Terrorism Committee from 2011 to 2012.
