🧑🎓 Early Life and Education
Born on July 22, 1970, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis hails from a Marathi Brahmin family. His father, Gangadharrao Fadnavis, was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, and his mother, Sarita Fadnavis, was associated with the Vidarbha Housing Credit Society.
Fadnavis completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Nagpur University in 1992, followed by a Postgraduate Degree in Business Management. He also obtained a Diploma in Methods and Techniques of Project Management from the DSE in Berlin.
🏛️ Political Career
Fadnavis began his political journey at the age of 22 as a corporator in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and became its youngest mayor in 1997 at 27.
He was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1999 from the Nagpur West constituency and later represented Nagpur South West from 2009 onwards.
In 2014, at the age of 44, Fadnavis became the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra, making him the second-youngest to hold the position after Sharad Pawar.
During the 2019 Maharashtra political crisis, he briefly served as Chief Minister for five days before resigning.
In June 2022, following a political upheaval, Fadnavis was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister under Eknath Shinde's leadership.
He returned as the Chief Minister on December 5, 2024, after the BJP emerged as the single largest party in the state elections.
