🧑‍🎓 Early Life and Education

Born on July 22, 1970, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis hails from a Marathi Brahmin family. His father, Gangadharrao Fadnavis, was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, and his mother, Sarita Fadnavis, was associated with the Vidarbha Housing Credit Society. ​

Fadnavis completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Nagpur University in 1992, followed by a Postgraduate Degree in Business Management. He also obtained a Diploma in Methods and Techniques of Project Management from the DSE in Berlin. ​


🏛️ Political Career

Fadnavis began his political journey at the age of 22 as a corporator in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and became its youngest mayor in 1997 at 27. ​

He was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 1999 from the Nagpur West constituency and later represented Nagpur South West from 2009 onwards. ​

In 2014, at the age of 44, Fadnavis became the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra, making him the second-youngest to hold the position after Sharad Pawar. ​

During the 2019 Maharashtra political crisis, he briefly served as Chief Minister for five days before resigning. ​

In June 2022, following a political upheaval, Fadnavis was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister under Eknath Shinde's leadership. ​

He returned as the Chief Minister on December 5, 2024, after the BJP emerged as the single largest party in the state elections. ​
