In 1993, he was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Patan constituency in Madhya Pradesh, a seat he retained in subsequent elections. 

Following the formation of Chhattisgarh in 2000, Baghel continued his political ascent, serving in various ministerial roles, including Minister of Revenue, Public Health Engineering, and Relief Work. He became the President of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee in 2014. 


🏆 Tenure as Chief Minister (2018–2023)

In the 2018 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections, the INC secured a significant victory, and Baghel was sworn in as Chief Minister on December 17, 2018. 

His administration focused on rural development, agricultural reforms, and social welfare schemes.
