Goswami Tulsidas (also known as Tulasidasa), born around 1532 CE in Rajapur or Soron, Uttar Pradesh, India, was a Hindu Vaishnava bhakti poet — author of the Ramcharitmanas (1574 — the most-influential vernacular retelling of the Ramayana in Awadhi Hindi); composer of Hanuman Chalisa; founder of the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir in Varanasi. He died around 1623 CE at age 91.
